Suga, a member of the South Korean boy band BTS, will begin his military service on Friday, joining two other members Jin and J-Hope that were enlisted earlier, according to his entertainment agency.

BigHit Music Co. under Hybe Corp. announced Suga¡¯s enlistment for military duty on Sunday through an online communication channel.

Suga will be the third BTS member to join military service, following Jin, who joined in December last year and J-Hope in April.

Suga¡¯s enlistment had been postponed until the end of this year upon a recommendation from the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, in accordance with the revised military service act in 2020.

However, Suga said last month that he had applied for the cancellation of the postponement in order to fulfill his military duty.

Suga has been assigned to serve as a public service worker to substitute for his military service obligation. While the specific reasons have not been officially disclosed, there has been speculation that it may be related to a surgery he had in 2020 to repair a torn shoulder joint.

His label added a cautionary note for fans, urging them to ¡°refrain from visiting Suga¡¯s workplace during the service period.¡±

BigHit Music also stated that it will not organize any events on the day of enlistment and entry into the training camp.

BigHit Music warned against unauthorized use of the artist¡¯s intellectual property for various tours or package products, stating its strong intention to take counteractions and corresponding measures against such unauthorized commercial activities.

Suga has been active as a rapper and music producer. He released his first official solo album, ¡°D-day,¡± in April, which recorded sales of over one million copies on the day of release and reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 main album chart.

Suga also embarked on a solo tour this year, visiting 10 cities worldwide and attracting over 300,000 audiences.
