Hanwha Q CELLS, a solar power unit of South Korean conglomerate Hanwha Group, said on Tuesday it has entered a multi-year sponsorship with the Los Angeles Dodgers, a U.S. Major League Baseball (MLB) team, in show of its devotion to star pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin and marketing in renewable-conscious California.

Under the contract, Q CELLS will become an active and visible brand at Dodger Stadium, displaying its company logo on in-field signage during home games, while also participating as a promotional partner on a number of campaigns, including ceremonial first pitch and pre-game greetings. It will be able to offer a promotional giveaway including season tickets to its VIP customers.

Hanwha is the owner of the Daejeon-based Hanhwa Eagles, home to current Dodgers pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin and former pitcher Park Chan-ho.

The company expects the sponsorship represents a great opportunity to strengthen its brand in the No. 1 state in the U.S. residential solar market.

Q CELLS initiated commercial production of solar cell modules in Georgia in February.
