Korean HBM stocks soar thanks to U.S. chip stocks rally

South Korean high-bandwidth memory (HBM) stocks surged on Friday following a 4 percent gain in the shares of United States chip giant Nvidia Corp on the Nasdaq.

HANMI Semiconductor Co. shares traded at 151,900 won ($110) per share at 10:19 a.m. on Friday, up 7.06 percent from the previous trading day.

Other stocks related to HBM manufacturing equipment also saw gains, with shares in IoTechnics Ltd. rising by 6.23 percent, AUROS Technology, Inc. by 4.57 percent, and Koh Young Technology Inc. by 8.18 percent.

Earlier in New York, Nvidia extended its winning streak to two consecutive days with a more than 4 percent gain, while AI semiconductor companies such as Micron Technology and Broadcom Inc. also saw increases in their stock prices.
