Kakao Healthcare Corp. is collaborating with food company Our Home Ltd. to jointly develop artificial intelligence-based personalized healthcare solutions.

Kakao Healthcare said on Tuesday that it signed a memorandum of understanding with Our Home a day earlier to develop hyper-personalized healthcare solutions by combining its AI-based smart blood sugar management solution with Our Home¡®s healthcare program. By combining these two programs, the duo will be able to leverage over 20,000 nutrition-related technologies and data.

The joint effort will make it possible to track health changes in consumers who receive diet and nutrition counseling from Our Home¡¯s program using Kakao Healthcare¡®s AI technology and provide personalized healthcare content tailored to individuals based on the data.

Kakao Healthcare Chief Executive Officer Hwang Hee expressed his excitement about the partnership and promised innovative hyper-personalized healthcare solutions. Our Home CEO Koo Ji-eun also expects the partnership with Kakao Healthcare to be a ¡°turning point¡± that will create a new paradigm for the Korean healthcare industry, boosted by the company¡¯s accumulated diet and nutrition data.

Meanwhile, Kakao Healthcare¡¯s parent company Kakao Corp. said it participated in a meeting to discuss measures to support the digitalization of small and medium-sized enterprises organized by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris on Friday.

Kakao said on Tuesday that it would support SMEs via its KakaoTalk text messaging application and provide business operations training on its app.

The Paris meeting was organized as part of the OECD Digital for SMEs Global Initiative (D4SME), a global forum to promote the digitalization of SMEs. During the 5th meeting held during the previous week themed ¡°SMEs in the era of generative AI¡±, participants discussed the impact of generative AI on SMEs, as well as public-private cooperation and case studies.

As the only Asian company to be an official private cooperation partner at the event, Kakao showcased its business support for SMEs via its text messaging app, including a 24/7, one-on-one chat service for customers, whose cost-saving effect totaled up to 141.4 billion won ($102.7 million) annually, according to the company¡®s analysis.

Kakao also shared its SME support funds, which totaled 20 billion won as of April 2024 over the past one year and eight months. It also introduced training programs for SME operators on how to use the text messaging app and other Kakao apps for business operations. The company plans to introduce a wider range of Kakao services in business districts across the country as part of its new initiative in addition to these ongoing efforts.
