South Korean internet giant Naver Corp. is joining forces with Intel Corp. to establish an artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor ecosystem. Naver Cloud is aiming to reduce costs for massive AI training and inference through directly designing while Intel is seeking to penetrate the AI training and inference chip market currently dominated by Nvidia Corp.

According to industry sources on Wednesday, Intel and Naver Cloud are set to announce collaboration plans in the United States on April 8 or 9.

The key focus of the collaboration is the joint construction of a platform ecosystem for the AI training and inference chip Gaudi developed by Intel¡®s subsidiary Habana Labs.

Gaudi can be designed differently according to its purpose.

Currently, parallel processing software is monopolized by Nvidia¡¯s CUDA.
