LG Electronics Inc. recently partnered with Hyundai Motor Group to venture into mobility services. The company¡®s free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service, or LG Channel, has seamlessly integrated into the in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems of vehicles manufactured by Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp., including Genesis G80, GV80, and Carnival, since January 2024. The integration brings a new level of convenience, allowing users to enjoy their favorite shows and channels while on the go.

LG Channel allows drivers to access more than 80 free channels on LG TVs even without a set-top box.

For LG Electronics, the collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group is an opportunity to find ad revenue and extend the reach of its content platform, LG webOS, across multiple devices.

As an operating system for smart TVs and other devices, LG webOS allows TVs to seamlessly access content from LG¡¯s channels without any additional setup. For its part, Hyundai Motor and Kia have strategically positioned themselves to tap into the rapidly growing market of FAST services via this content partnership with LG Electronics.

The FAST industry is experiencing exponential growth, with the market projected to hit $12 billion by 2027 according to market research firm Statista.
