Naver said on Friday that its invested artificial intelligence (AI) legal tech startup, Bering Lab, has won the top prize at the Huawei Cloud Startup Ignite Competition 2023.
This fourth edition of the competition stands as the largest startup event in the Asia-Pacific region, and Naver emphasized that Bering Lab’s first-place win marks a groundbreaking achievement for a South Korean company.
Bering Lab specializes in translation services for legal contracts, leveraging a foundation built on the expertise of over 400 legal professionals worldwide.
The startup boasts a clientele that includes over 70 global companies such as Microsoft, Sony Music, Kakao Games, as well as law firms and patent corporations.
Bering Lab has been supported by Naver’s startup nurturing organization, D2SF (D2 Startup Factory), and Seoul National University Technology Holdings from its early stages. Recently, it was also selected for SK Telecom’s AI startup accelerator program.
Bering Lab plans to complete major European and Asian language engine development tasks following its successful development of Chinese and Japanese translation engines by the first half of next year.
