Line Digital Frontier, the Japanese operator of digital fictions under Naver Webtoon of South Korea, has achieved monthly gross merchandise value (GMV) milestone of 10 billion yen ($69.3 million) in August, helped by acquisition of an electronic bookstore in Japan.

According to Naver Webtoon on Wednesday, Line Digital Frontier¡¯s two platforms – Line Manga and eBookJapan - surpassed 10 billion yen in monthly transactions.

Naver acquired eBookJapan, a major e-book company in Japan, in March as part of its efforts to expand its share in the e-book and manga market.

Last month, eBookJapan, in collaboration with Japan¡¯s payment service giant PayPay, held promotional events such as book recommendations while original webtoons such as ¡°Marry My Husband¡± and ¡°Viral Hit¡± proved to be a hit among Japanese readers.

Naver Webtoon has also recently established a separate task force (TF) to further grow its Line Digital Frontier services.
