South Korean top three battery makers would be behind 11 out of 13 battery production facilities under construction or planned in the United States, accounting for 70% of battery capacity in the U.S. by 2025 versus the current 10.2%, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. LG Energy Solution is building joint factories with GM and Stellantis, SK On with Ford, and Samsung SDI with Stellantis and apart from standalone expansion, Korean companies take up 64.2% of battery production facilities in the European Union where EV penetration is high.
