BTS¡¯ ¡°Butter¡± sets new record by topping Billboard Hot 100 for sixth week

The journey by BTS is undone as it achieved yet another milestone in the history of K-pop with its new single ¡°Butter¡± retaining at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the sixth consecutive week.

¡°BTS¡¯ ¡°Butter¡± churns out its sixth week at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 song chart, encompassing its entire run on the ranking so far,¡± Billboard said Tuesday (local time).

After beating the boyband¡¯s previous three-week run atop with its first English song ¡°Dynamite,¡± ¡°Butter¡± has kept extending its record streak to the sixth straight week.

¡°Butter¡± is one of select 10 songs that stayed at No.1 for more than six weeks in the Billboard¡¯s history.

It is the second longest streak for a song by a group. The longest record is held by Mariah Carey and Boyz ¥± Men¡¯s ¡°One Sweet Day¡± that kept the top spot for 16 weeks in a row.

BTS have claimed the reign at the chart for total 11 times, with ¡°Butter¡± grabbing the top spot for six times, ¡°Dynamite¡± three times and ¡°Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat)¡± and ¡°Life Goes On¡± once each.

The Billboard Hot 100 is a weekly ranking of the most popular songs across all genres based on sales, radio play and online streaming in the U.S.

According to MRC data cited by Billboard, ¡°Butter¡± drew 11 million streams, down 11 percent, and sold 153,600 (downloads, cassette and vinyl combined), up 20 percent in the week ending July 1. It also attracted 28.3 million radio airplay audience impressions, up 2 percent in the week ending July 4, it added.
