Hankook Tire & Technology is closing down Daejeon and Geumsan plants for three days starting Thursday as it has failed to secure container ships for its cargoes bound for the U.S. and Europe to underscore broadening woes of exporters struggling to meet demand due to shortage of carriers and soaring shipping cost. The two plants are responsible for over 40 percent of annual sales of the tire maker, producing a combined 44 million units each year.
