Samsung Electronics Thursday introduced a new range of Neo QLED and Micro LED TVs during its first-ever virtual First Look event ahead of CES 2021.

The 2021 Neo QLED TV, which better matches the company¡¯s human-centered technology under the vision of Screens for All, is taking QLED to the next level enabled by an all-new light source for precise ultra-fine control.

Neo QLED increases the luminance scale to 12-bit with 4,096 steps and each Mini LED is about 1/40 the height of a standard LED. This helps make dark areas darker and bright areas brighter, resulting in a more precise and immersive HDR experience, the company said.

Neo QLED also benefits from Samsung¡¯s proprietary Neo Quantum Processor with enhanced upscaling capabilities to 4K and 8K levels. By using up to 16 different neural network models, each trained in AI upscaling and deep learning technology, the Neo Quantum Processor can optimize picture quality to 4K and 8K picture output regardless of the input quality.

The new Neo QLED TV also offers a range of smart features which meets the customer¡¯s growing needs for working from home, entertainment and exercise amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Samsung Electronics also said it will soon launch a massive 110-inch Micro LED TV worldwide, which will be followed by a 99-inch version in March or April and 70-80-inch versions possibly within this year.

The Micro LED technology does not require the backlight unit or color filters of conventional displays as it is self-illuminating and produces lifelike colors and brightness.

The company will go environmentally friendly with its TV business operations and allow more people to comfortably enjoy their viewing experience under the vision of Screens for all, a more developed version of Screens Everywhere, said Han Jong-hee, who heads the visual display business at Samsung.
