Tokopedia has announced the shopping trends of Indonesians ahead of the holidays in 2021, namely between Christmas Day and New Year¡¯s Eve, abbreviated as ¡°Nataru¡± by locals. This year, the nation had an increasing tendency to go online to purchase hampers, and various initiatives to help struggling communities to celebrate the holidays, amid the rise in coronavirus cases and the threat of the Omicron variant.

"The categories of Household, Health and Personal Care, Food and Beverages, Electronics and Fashion were some of the favorite categories of Indonesian people ahead of Nataru," revealed Ekhel Chandra Wijaya, Tokopedia`s external communications senior lead.

Tokopedia`s internal data show that people still like to send greeting cards to family and friends, as proven by the increase in the number of greeting card product transactions increasing when compared with the same period last year.

Moreover, it is customary to send hampers as gifts to loved ones to welcome the holiday season. Data show that the number of transactions for hampers was up almost threefold in Tokopedia, compared with the previous year.

¡°Hampers, greeting cards and chocolates are some of our favorite products ahead of this year`s Nataru. We recorded nearly double the transactions in chocolate products ahead of Nataru this year when compared with the same period last year,¡± Ekhel added.

While this holiday season is looking a lot more like last year, compared with the days before the pandemic, companies like Tokopedia are providing various initiatives that can help the community meet their needs. These include Tokopedia NOW!, a service that will deliver basic food products, such as meat and fruit, to customers¡¯ doors within two hours, to reduce communal mobility.

Furthermore, Tokopedia Nyam is another initiative created to strengthen collaboration with local food and beverage businesses. This campaign is also intended to make it easier for people to get food and beverage products more easily and efficiently. The company also provides Kumpulan Toko Pilihan (KTP, collection of preferred stores) campaign, where people can find various local micro, small and medium enterprises¡¯ products from their local area.

"Tokopedia is committed to #SelaluAdaSelalubisa to present various products that the Indonesian people need, including on Christmas and New Year`s Day, so that people can still celebrate the joy of Christmas and New Year with their families more safely, without the need to leave the house," concluded Ekhel.
