Hanwha Solutions to acquire 16.7% stake in solar cell material maker REC Silicon

Korean energy solution provider Hanwha Solutions Corp. will take over a 16.67% stake in REC Silicon ASA, a Norwegian company running a polysilicon manufacturing plant in the U.S., at $160.47 million to meet growing clients¡¯ demand for U.S.-made polysilicon, a key material of photovoltaic cells. Hanwha Solutions will hold the equal share in REC Silicon ASA as its largest shareholder Aker Horizons Holding AS once the deal is completed on Jan 14, 2022. The two biggest stakeholders will work together to expand presence in renewable energy market.
