LG Uplus Corp. began servicing Pearl Abyss’ mega-hit title Black Desert on Wednesday via its cloud gaming platform GeForce NOW.

Cloud gaming is an online gaming streaming service that enables users to play a game remotely through servers and streams. Subscribers to LG Uplus’ 5G and Internet services can now play the high quality massively multiplayer online role-playing (MMORPG) even with low-performing laptops or PCs via cloud.

Black Desert, launched in December 2014, is Pearl Abyss’ blockbuster PC game that recorded more than 17 million users in 150 countries worldwide. Kim Gyeong-man, Pearl Abyss chief business officer (CBO), said he chose the cloud gaming platform to allow as many users as possible to enjoy the high definition, high quality game content.

LG Uplus is also in talks with other game publishers including Riot Games, Square Enix and Bungie to provide their respective hit titles – League of Legends, Tomb Raider and Destiny Guardians – through its cloud. Son Min-seon, an executive director in charge of cloud service, said GeForce NOW will offer high-quality virtual world accessible from any device on cloud.

LG Uplus will offer a GeForce NOW trial membership valid for a month to users of SK Telecom and KT from July 29 to August 19. It will also provide generous prizes including Galaxy Book Flex, laser gaming keyboard and mouse to player
