Despite the saber-rattling and standoff, South Korean President Moon Jae-in thought there was still a hope yet in regards to inter-Korean relationship and North Korean-U.S. dialogue as the situation is “neither optimistic nor pessimistic” in his televised New Year’s press conference Tuesday. He was confident the economy would manage 2.0 percent growth this year, citing increasing positive numbers in data. He proposed setting a social dispute panel to enable new business like van-hailing service Tada while protecting traditional players.
