Executives of South Korea’s loss-making Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) and 10 public utility subsidiaries will return part of their salary to contribute to state funding to fight coronavirus fallouts.

KEPCO CEO Kim Jong-kap and senior executives of its subsidiaries decided to give back 10 percent of their monthly wage for one year, 120 percent in total to raise the money, according to KEPCO on Wednesday. Managers and department heads will return 36 percent of their salary.

Participants include KEPCO, Korea South-East Power, Korea Midland Power, Korea Western Power, Korea Southern Power, Korea East-West Power, KEPCO Engineering & Construction, KEPCO Plant Service & Engineering, KEPCO Nuclear Fuel and KEPCO KDN.

The company has also been holding a blood donation campaign with more than 300 employees participating so far. Its employees voluntarily established KEPCO Love Fund to aid face mask manufacturers and volunteer organizations and provide 100,000 cotton masks to vulnerable people including senior citizens.

“Every worker at KEPCO and its subsidiaries will share the burden to overcome the coronavirus crisis,” Kim said.
