South Korea¡¯s LG Electronics Inc. will embark on development of self-driving vehicle solutions through a joint venture established in Silicon Valley with Swiss software company Luxoft.
LG Electronics and Luxoft signed a contract to set up a connected car solution JV on the sidelines of this year¡¯s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020 on Tuesday (local time) in Las Vegas. The JV will be set up in Silicon Valley, home for high-tech companies in California, and will lead the development of digital cockpits, rear seat entertainment systems and other smart mobility devices, using LG Electronics¡¯ own webOS Auto, a connected in-vehicle infotainment platform.
The two parties hope that products to be developed by the JV can bring new self-driving features tailored to diverse lifestyles of different drivers.
¡°The JV will help make better industry ecosystem for webOS Auto-based smart vehicles. We¡¯ll make efforts to add customer value with the next-generation in-vehicle infotainment platform,¡± said Park Il-pyung, LG Electronics Chief Technology Officer during the signing ceremony. Luxoft President and CEO Dmitry Loschinin also attended the signing ceremony.
