South Korea’s main bourse Kospi ended Tuesday up 1 percent at 2,223.12 and junior Kosdaq 0.93 percent higher at 682.34 as the stock markets gained steam following the overnight news that S&P 500 and Nasdaq in the U.S. rose to new closing highs, with investors looking beyond the coronavirus outbreak. The top 10 stocks on Kospi rose in general – Samsung Electronics gained 0.34 percent, SK Hynix 1.01 percent, Naver 0.54 percent, LG Chem 6.85 percent, Hyundai Motor 1.92 percent, Samsung SDI 6.69 percent, and Hyundai Mobis 3.94 percent on expectations of a boon from the misfortunes of Chinese rivals amid production suspension from the epidemic.
