“Mukbang” a Korean colloquial referring to gourmandizing on TV or web programs, joined the top 10 words of the year by Collins Dictionary that are now part of everyday language or “shared experience for billions of people.” During the unprecedented pandemic year of 2020, “lockdown” was the top word pick. Virus-related terms dominated the shortlist -“coronavirus,” “furlough,” “key worker,” “self-isolate” and “social distancing.” Mukbang, shortlisted along with Megxit and BLM outside pandemic, was defined as “a video or webcast in which the host eats a large quantity of food for the entertainment of viewers”
