Hyundai Motor on Thursday unveiled the much-awaited maiden compact SUV version under its luxury Genesis marque, sporting ¡°athletic elegance.¡±

The mid-sized GV70 is the fifth in the six-member Genesis lineup planned for 2021 and the second Genesis SUV following the launch of the GV80 in January.

The GV70 to come out in the home market within this year comes with the crest grille and double-line quad lamps, the signature design elements of the high-end brand for its design concept ¡®Athletic Elegance¡¯.

The crest grille is positioned lower than the head lamp to emphasize its aggressiveness, and a bumper skid plate to protect the lower part of the engine creates a stronger image of the vehicle.

The parabolic arch line that starts from the top of the quad lamp and crosses the car body creates an elegant ambience with a dramatic contrast to the voluminous rear fender, emphasizing the dynamic appearance of the vehicle. The sharp roof line along with the C-pillar¡¯s downward chrome line adds a sporty atmosphere.

Other signature Genesis design elements such as twin-split rear quad lamps, G-matrix pattern bumper, unique vertical exhaust vents and the body-colored diffuser also contribute to the vehicle`s dynamic appearance.

The GV70¡¯s sporty interior design inspired by the streamlined (aerodynamic) sculpting of airplane wings uses unique oval elements and new concept mood lighting to emphasize its spaciousness.

The slim air vents and the thin chrome lines across them extend to the doors on both sides, providing a feeling of enveloping comfort. The enlarged LCD touch screen climate control minimizes physical buttons on the dash, and the ergonomic center fascia maximizes the driver`s convenience. The center console also features the shift-by-wire (SBW) transmission base with a dial-style shift.
