BlackPink zooms to the Billboard Artist 100 peak, BTS follows

K-pop girl group BlackPink has zoomed up to the top on the Billboard Artist 100 chart, making history of becoming the first all-female group to hit the No.1 place since the chart was released in 2014.

It was also the first for a Korean girl group to touch the peak in the U.S. chart..

The Korean girl group leapfrogged whopping 64 places to claim the top followed by another K-pop star BTS at No.2, Billboard announced Tuesday (local time). ¡°Two K-pop acts have monopolized the chart¡¯s top two positions,¡± the Billboard said.

The Billboard Artist 100 ranks top artists in America using measures of album sales, track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction.

BTS has claimed the first spot on the chart for 10 times, after ranking top on Sep. 29 most recently.

The feat of BlackPink comes after the release of ¡°THE ALBUM¡±, the girl group¡¯s debut full-length album that came at No.2 on the Billboard 200 chart.

BlackBink landed a couple of titles on the Billboard Hot 100. ¡°Lovesick Girls¡±, the title song of ¡°THE ALBUM¡±, debuted at No.59, and ¡°Ice Cream¡± featuring with Selena Gomez ranked No.64 after debuting at No.13, remaining on the chart for six consecutive weeks.

It was also the first time for a K-pop girl group to land two songs on the Hot 100 chart at the same time.

Shares of its label producer YG Entertainment closed up 0.1 percent at 48,150 won ($42) on Wednesday.
