Queen is coming to Korea where the Queen fever was high following the smash hit of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” the 2018 biopic film that depicted the life of Queen’s vocalist Freddie Mercury.
According to Hyundai Card on Thursday, two members of Queen – Brian May and Roger Taylor, and American singer Adam Lambert who will replace Freddie Mercury will hold the band’s first solo concert at Gocheok Sky Dome in January 18 and 19, as part of Hyundai Card Super Concert series.
The four-member British rock band formed in 1971 with lead singer Mercury, guitarist May, bassist John Deacon and drummer Taylor has released 15 studio albums and numerous chart-topping songs including Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions. It is estimated that Queen has sold more than 200 million albums across the world.
Queen begins its world tour concert dubbed ‘The Rhapsody Tour’ in July in Vancouver. After Mercury died in 1991 and Deacon retired in 1997, May and Taylor have performed together as Queen. Lambert who first performed with the two members on the 2009 season finale of American Idol will replace Mercury as the band’s lead vocalist.
Hyundai Card launched Super Concert in 2007 and has been inviting world-renowned musicians including Paul McCartney, Beyonce and Eminem to perform in Korea. The company has also been holding various exhibitions and performances as part of its cultural marketing.
