Fabrice Cambolive, Chairman of Groupe Renault¡¯s AMI-Pacific Region, said he will choose South Korea as his first destination on his first forthcoming regional tour after the French carmaker¡¯s regional management reshuffle.

Fabrice Cambolive was last month appointed as SVP and chairman of Korea, Japan, ASEAN countries and Australia, which are grouped in the Africa-Middle-East-India (AMI) – Pacific Region, while a China Region was created as a separate division.

In a short video message sent to regional employees on Tuesday, Cambolive said he pays attention to Korea among some 100 markets in the region, stressing the strategic importance of the country and Renault Samsung.

He is expected to be present in a labor-management meeting of Renault Samsung during the first half of this year to give more weight on a successful wage negotiation.

¡°Major manufacturing and exporting countries in the region are Korea, India, Morocco and Algeria, and the first destination on my first regional tour after the realignment of the regional structure will be Korea,¡± he was quoted as saying. The AMI – Pacific Region will be able to leverage its experience and capabilities to support for the expansion of exports from Korea and other countries, he added. Cambolive had built his career in sales and marketing since he joined Renault in 1992. From 2017, he had led the carmaker¡¯s AMI business.

However, Renault Samsung said the video message was a customary one sent to all employees in the region after the realignment, toning down its significance toward the ongoing collective bargaining negotiation.
