SK Networks, the trading arm of South Korea’s SK Group, has officially launched home appliance rental service in Malaysia.

The company said Tuesday that it held a ceremony marking the official start of SK Networks Retails Malaysia. The event was attended by nearly 520 people including the company’s top executives and newly hired sales professionals. It opened an office in Kuala Lumpur in October and has hired nearly 400 sales professionals since then.

SK Network conducted a study into the Malaysian home appliance rental service market earlier this year and concluded it was the right market to enter, given the country’s high economic standing compared to other Southeast Asian countries. Also, the demand for clean and mineral-rich water has been growing fast in Malaysia.

The company will rent out its affiliate SK Magic Inc.’s home appliance products including water and air purifiers and massage chair. Its water purifier product will include a model with hot and cold water dispensers.
