The Roundup: Punishment tops 10 mn viewers

The latest release in the South Korean action movie series, “The Roundup,” topped 10 million cumulative viewers as of Wednesday. With this milestone, the series joins the ranks of films such as The Roundup and The Roundup: No Way Out to become the first Korean movie series to hit the “triple 10 million” mark.

According to data from the KOBIS ticketing network operated by the Korean Film Council on Wednesday, The Roundup: Punishment surpassed 10 million cumulative viewers at 7:30 a.m., 22 days since its release on April 24th, 2024. It is the 33rd film to surpass 10 million viewers among films released in Korea and the 24th among Korean films.

The Roundup: Punishment depicts a police operation against an illegal online gambling organization. Like the preceding movies in the series, it attracted audiences with exciting action scenes. The cumulative viewership of “The Roundup” series, which currently has four films, hit 40.26 million to surpass the 40 million cumulative viewers mark for the first time in Korean film history.

Actor-producer Ma Dong-seok, the series’ star, expressed his gratitude in a video released by his production company, ABO Entertainment Co, with the cast and production team of the movie also expressing their gratitude. Actor Kim Mu-yeol, known as a musical theater actor, made his first appearance in a “10 Million Viewers” movie with The Roundup: Punishment.
