Jimin, a member of K-pop superstar BTS, has become the first South Korean solo artist to reach the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 list with his single, “Like Crazy,” according to Billboard on Monday.

Like Crazy, which beat out Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” and Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night,” is the title track of Jimin’s debut solo album “Face” that was released worldwide on March 24. The song, combined with synth and drum sounds with his emotional singing, is highlighted by powerful choreography with a group of dancers.

Jimin joined the songwriting to reflect the anxiety and frustration he felt from the pandemic to the lyrics.

Six BTS songs, including “Dynamite” and “Butter,” have so far reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 list. Psy’s “Gangnam Style,” which went viral worldwide in 2012, ranked No. 2 on the chart for 7 straight weeks.

Jimin’s Like Crazy sold 254,000 song downloads and CD singles. The song also drew 10 million streams and 64,000 radio airplay audience impressions.

“It wouldn’t have been possible without our fans, the Army, and BTS,” Jimin said in a live chat.
