À̹ÌÁö È®´ë Kakao M, entertainment unit of South Korea¡¯s top messenger operator Kakao Corp. has reorganized its record labels to strengthen content competitiveness.
According to entertainment industry sources on Thursday, Kakao M will spin off its indie music label ¡°Mun Hwa In¡± as an independent subsidiary this month. The company is also actively recruiting new songwriters for its new songwriters¡¯ agency ¡°Flex M¡± that it opened late November.
A source with knowledge of the matter said Kakao M is reshaping its labels to become more competitive individually for the goal of making the name a comprehensive entertainment service provider.
The company has been moving actively to expand its presence in entertainment market. Last year, it acquired two filmmakers Moonlight Film and Sanai Pictures.
Established in 2016, Mun Hwa In specializes in indie music or those that do not fall into a single musical style or genre. Its artists include Oohyo, synth-pop singer and songwriter, and Yoon Hyun-sang, a singer/songwriter who made top 7 of Korean reality TV competition series K-pop Star.
