K-pop sensation BTS name commanded No. 1 and 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 songs chart after the latest remix version of hit song “Savage Love” featuring the group went to the top, a rare feat after The Black Eyed Peas in 2009.
The remix “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” of viral sensation “Savage Love” by producer Jawsh 685, singer Jason Derulo and featuring BTS soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart.
This is the second Hot 100 No.1 for the seven-member boy group as the latest single “Dynamite” reigns at No. 2 after spending three weeks at No. 1.
BTS is the first group to double the top two on the U.S. chart since The Black Eyed Peas command over four weeks in June-July 2009 with “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling,” Billboard said. Only three other duos or groups held names on top two ranks in the same week – OutKast in 2003-2004, Bee Gees in 1978 and The Beatles in 1964.
Savage Love, which sparked a unique “culture dance” challenge on video-sharing platform TikTok, drew 16 million U.S. streams (up 32 percent) and sold 76,000 downloads (up 814 percent), in the week from Oct. 2 to 8. The track made the biggest leap from the eighth to the top in a week after two BTS remixes (a vocal and an instrumental version) were released at midnight Oct. 2.
