The world¡¯s hottest boyband BTS will release their third documentary film ¡°Bring the Soul: The Movie¡± in select countries on August 7, out to conquer not only the music charts but also the box office.
Big Hit Entertainment, the K-pop band¡¯s record label, said Wednesday the new movie would give fans a behind-the-scenes look of their 2018 Love Yourself world tour. The latest film was co-produced by Big Hit Entertainment and Camp Entertainment, with Walt Disney Company Korea in charge of local distribution.
The movie follows the seven members as they embark on their 2018 world tour, from their first concert in Seoul in August to their final stage in Paris in October. Also included is special footage of the group wrapping up their tour with a small after-party on a Parisian rooftop.
¡°Bring the Soul¡± is expected to be similar in format to the band¡¯s previous two films, featuring a mix of live performance highlights, off-stage moments and interviews with the seven members.
Their first movie ¡°Burn the Stage: The Movie¡± was a documentation of their 2017 The Wings global tour. Released in November 2018, the movie pulled in 1.4 million viewers to make $18.5 million at the box office, breaking the record for the highest-grossing event cinema release, a title once held by U.K. boyband One Direction.
Their second movie ¡°Love Yourself in Seoul¡± was a concert film of their Love Yourself tour that took place in Seoul in August 2018. Released in January for just one day in select theaters around the world, the movie grossed $117 million worldwide and $2.2 million in South Korea.

BTS saw their popularity expand rapidly beyond their home country of South Korea over the past three years, hitting one milestone after another. They became the first group after The Beatles to land three No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart in less than a year. They were also the first K-pop act to win two awards at this year¡¯s Billboard Music Awards, taking home the trophy for top social artist for the third year in a row and receiving their first nod for top duo/group. They recently performed two sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium, becoming the first Korean band to headline the iconic London venue.
Their most recent album, Map of the Soul: Persona, debuted atop the Billboard 200 in April and has remained on the Billboard charts for the 10th consecutive week. The group broke yet another record, this time for the best-selling album in South Korea, selling 3,399,302 copies in their home country as of May 2019, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
