Korean girl group BlackPink under the sponsorship of Kia Motors completed 2019 World Tour in North America from Apr. 17 to May. 8 in display of an ideal marketing mix of K-pop and Korean brand.

The Korean girl group performed at the massive U.S. music festival Coachella as the first K-pop act last month and appeared on famous U.S. TV shows, including The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Good Morning America, and The Late Late Show with James Corden, for promotion.

BlackPink toured six major cities in the U.S. and Canada including Los Angeles, Chicago, Hamilton and Newark. BlackPink is one of Korea’s latest musical exports, which is sweeping the world. Its latest EP “Kill This Love” has hit new highs on the U.S. Billboard albums and singles charts and appeared on both Billboard 200 chart and Billboard Hot 100 chart for three consecutive weeks.

The Korean girl group also successfully carried out another mission during their tour in North America to promote Kia Motors’ brand to a larger and younger audience, according to the Korean automaker on Thursday. They traveled on Kia Motors` vehicles during the tour, Kia Motors said.

Kia Sedona minivan drove the female foursome in the U.S., and flagship models such as five-door compact sports sedan Stinger and subcompact crossover SUV Soul were displayed at a separate exhibition zone outside the concert venues.

Kia Motors also held a different entertaining event dubbed Kia On Beat Stage to provide various K-pop experiences for each city hosting the BlackPink concert.

The Korean car maker is planning to further expand its engaging with K-pop contents and culture to maximize its exposure to global customers. It hopes working with K-pop stars would help enhance its brand awareness among young-generation drivers more effectively.
