CJ ENM, entertainment unit of Korean conglomerate CJ Group, has scored big with its K-pop channel available to global audience at a time K-pop has been doing extremely well on music charts across the world.
The company said Tuesday that over 10 million viewers are now subscribed to its online music channel M2 through video streaming services including YouTube and Facebook.
M2 is a digital music platform that offers various music-related contents such as videos from music concerts and behind-the-scene footage of celebrities, mostly K-pop singers. Its most-loved content includes M2 FanCam and Relay Dance that recorded more than 500 million views and 250 million views, respectively, last year.
The company said its subscribers spent total 38.95 million hours watching M2 programs last year or in other words, 580 million people across the globe watched at least one M2 show once last year.

Its success in attracting a huge global audience to the online channel largely owed to the company¡¯s creative excellence in content development. It has offered a series of K-pop programs that have not been easily shown in traditional media. Recognized for its creativity, its online video content Relay Dance was awarded gold prize of internationally-recognized AVA Digital Awards¡¯ web-based production segment.
Its latest popular digital content includes reality shows and comeback showcase videos of K-pop stars like GOT7.
The company said it has released nearly 15,000 programs and has secured 40 million subscribers annually. Based on its strong foothold, it aims to achieve 5 billion views this year.
