BTS new MV sets record, raises hope for another phenomenon

Korea¡¯s K-pop superstar BTS has created another splash with the video of its new title ¡°Boy With Luv¡± topping 100 million views on YouTube at the fastest-ever pace.

The music video for ¡°Boy With Luv,¡± the main track of the boy band¡¯s new album ¡°Map of the Soul: Persona¡± released on last Friday at 6 p.m. surpassed 100 million views at YouTube by 7:37 a.m. Sunday or 37 hours and 37 minutes after the MV release.

It has officially broken YouTube¡¯s record as a music video viewed by more than 100 million in the shortest time.

The previous record was set by K-pop girl group BlackPink¡¯s newest song ¡°Kill This Love¡± that attracted 100 million views on YouTube in 62 hours after the official release on April 5.

BTS¡¯ ¡°Boy With Luv¡± is the 18th music video of the boyband¡¯s with over 100 million views on YouTube, the best among Korean music artists.

The song also has been stealing the top of the iTunes song charts across the world, ranking No. 1 in 67 countries including the United States, Brazil, and Japan.

The early-stage feat has raised related stocks with investors betting on another phenomenal year for BTS. On Monday, shares of KeyEaste whose Japanese subsidiary has a management right for BTS in Japan jumped 29.96 percent to 4,425 won ($3.91). Those of Korean game developer, the second largest stakeholder of BTS¡¯s producer Big Hit Entertainment gained 1.89 percent to 134,500 won. LB Semicon and Digital Power Communications Co., who also own stakes in BTS producer, saw their stock gaining 2.09 percent 2.31 percent, respectively.
