Mobile MMORPG title Lineage 2M by online game maker NCSoft Corp. became the most popular game app on the Google Play Store in sales as of Sunday, beating its predecessor Lineage M, the company said.

The new achievement was made just in four days after the mobile version of mega-hit game Lineage 2 playable from midnight Wednesday on Google`s Android and Apple`s iOS devices.

Upon the release, it topped the list on Apple’s App Store and began to elbow out major rivals such as V4 by Nexon and the Rise of Kingdoms by Lilith Games on the Google Platy Store. The latest performance is far more significant as Google Play occupies nearly 80 percent of the local market, the company said.

This also means Lineage 2M is the first game that took the championship title from Lineage M which remained atop for 892 days since its launch on June 23, 2017.

Lineage 2M, which features full 3D graphics and 4K UHD resolution, was met with much fanfare as pre-orders rewarding in-game items topped 7.38 million, beating 5.50 million for the first version Lineage M to set a record for mobile titles. Character pre-registration also was completed on 100 servers in the first two hours of launch, much faster than the record of eight days by Lineage M.

NCSoft did not separately disclose its first-day sales figure, the number of users and other details. Lineage M attracted 2.1 million users and logged 10.7 billion won ($9.04 million) on its first day of service. Market analysts say Lineage 2M will continue growth on a stable cash flow, driven by demand from young gamers and the addition of a randomized class draw.
