The South Korean government has recently recommended companies to allow pregnant women and respiratory-vulnerable employees to work from home on days with severe fine dust levels.

Under the government’s measures, pregnant women and respiratory patients are recommended to work from home if a fine dust warning remains at the “attention” level for two days or more or if a “caution” level or worse is issued.

March is considered a month with the highest ultrafine particle levels. The Ministry of Environment noted that fine dust concentration levels peaked in January and February in China, which can affect the levels in Korea.

The government said on Tuesday that it will operate a joint ministerial taskforce until March 31 to prepare for severe air pollution during spring.
