WKF in Sept to provide investment solutions during COVID-19 volatility

The new global order and challenges in the financial market under pandemic influence will be scrutinized, and investment strategies in the volatile and uncertain period explored at the upcoming 21st World Knowledge Forum.

The host Maekyung Media Group carefully pooled strategists at home and abroad to share insights about the developments in the global and domestic financial markets at the annual event held on September 16 to 18 at Jangchung Arena and Shilla Hotel in central Seoul.

Global chief investment officers (CIOs) will recommend investment guidelines in the uncertain global financial market. Ahn Hyo-joon, who has been serving as CIO of South Korea¡¯s biggest institutional investor National Pension Service since October 2018, will share his know-how that helped the fund generate the largest return rate of 11.31 percent last year despite the high volatility in the global market.

Schroders Group CIO Johanna Kyrklund who leads multi-asset investments division and former CIO of Japan¡¯s Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) Hiro Mizuno will also contribute their expertise.

The forum has invited global experts in environmental, social and governance (ESG) investments including Kerrie Waring, CEO of International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN), and Fiona Reynolds, CEO of the Principles for Responsible Investment Initiative (PRI). Ryu Young-jae, CEO of Sustin Best who is renowned as an ESG expert in South Korea, and Mizuno who led the efforts to establish the stewardship code in Japan will be discussing ways to build a mutually beneficial relationship between companies and institutional investors for a long term.

For the alternative investment sector, global real estate investment moguls including CBRE¡¯s North Asia President Ben Duncan, Macquarie Infrastructure Real Assets (MIRA)¡¯s executive director Michael Chan and Schroders¡¯ global head of real estate Duncan Owen will provide their insights on real estate asset management strategies. The session will be led by Kim Hee-seok, CEO of Hana Alternative Asset Management.

Ohad Topor, founder and chairman of TCK Investment, will speak on his experience in managing assets of global super riches based on his credence of serving the rich with more than $5 million assets. The session will be moderated by Mark Tetto, TCK Investment partner and a television personality in South Korea, and joined by Hwang Young-ki, former chairman of Korea Financial Investment Association, and Shin Min-ki, co-CEO of TCK Investment as panels.

An Yuhua, Sungkyunkwan Graduate School of China professor will be leading a session about the Chinese market.
