Hyundai, Fiat, BMW, Volkswagen and others to recall 494,720 vehicles in Korea

Hyundai Motor Co. and five auto and bike importers in South Korea will voluntarily recall more than 490,000 units of vehicles from 21 models due to faulty parts.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said Thursday that Hyundai Motor, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Korea, BMW Korea, Audi Volkswagen Korea, Man Truck & Bus Korea and Bike Korea will recall 494,720 cars and motorcycles.

Hyundai Motor will recall 491,102 units from two models including mid-sized sedan Avante after discovering defects in anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic control suspension (ECS) that could cause fire.

FCA Korea found that 872 units of Fiat 500 hatchback manufactured in 2013 have a deteriorated transmission cable bushing that could cause an error in gear shifting.

BMW Korea discovered that faulty Takata airbags installed in 2,273 units of nine models including BMW 320i could burst with too much force and throw metal fragments, leading to serious injuries.

Audi Volkswagen Korea will recall 323 units of five models including Volkswagen¡¯s Jetta 2.0 TDI BMT sedan due to the defective accumulator in gearbox.

Man Truck & Bus found defects in gas pressure regulators of 93 units of Lion¡¯s City. Bike Korea will recall 27 units from two models due to the faulty side stand spring and 30 units of Speed Twin for defective transmission pedal bolt.
