Seoul mulls charging, parking space near subways plus fare discounts for e-kick riders

Electronic kicks and scooters proliferating fast as last-mile easy and cheap transportation are expected to gain more grounds in Seoul as the city government mulls to install charging and parking space exclusive for them outside subway stations.

Seoul Metro has signed an agreement with mobility software developer KSTI to create charging and parking infrastructure for electric two-wheel kick scooters.

Under the partnership, KSTI will install and operate charging facilities and safety helmet rental shops. Seoul Metro will be in charge of site management and approval work.

¡°We¡¯re planning test service at one to five stations and then to expand the service offering to other areas upon demand,¡± said an official at Seoul Metro.

The city is also mulling incentives like bus and subway fare discounts for kick riders as well as app service enabling booking and settlement.
