Korea-themed fusion cuisines recognized in 2020 Michelin Guide

Fusion cuisines combining western cooking and Korean culinary tradition continued to gain recognition by Michelin Guide in its 2020 gourmet guidebook for dining in Seoul.

The world¡¯s popular guidebook for gourmet gave stars to total 31 restaurants in Seoul in its 2020 edition, adding five more to the last year¡¯s list.

Two retained three stars, guiding food-lovers it¡¯s ¡°worth a special trip¡± for their exceptional cuisine. Two newly made the 2-star list for cuisine ¡°worth a detour¡± to bring the total to seven this year. The family of one-star restaurants for food ¡°worth a stop¡± had 22 members with seven new additions.

Korean menu-themed fine dining restaurant ¡°Gaon¡± and ¡°La Yeon¡± stayed on the 3-star list for the fourth consecutive time. Mosu and L`Impression newly earned two-star. Mosu, rising from last year¡¯s one-star, was recognized for use of fresh seasonal ingredients. L`Impression, offering Korean cuisine with an innovative touch, instantly won two stars.

The new seven establishments recognized with one Michelin star are Torreno, Myomi, Votre Maison, Evett, Aupres, Onjium, and Pierre Gagnaire.

Auprès, Votre Maison, Pierre Gagnaire are distinguished by excellent French dishes. Myomi offers modern Korean cuisine, marked by creativity of chef Jang Jin-mo. Torreno offers Spanish cuisine, with vegetables and herbs grown by chef Shin Seung-hwan. Evett is recognized by innovative dishes, created under Australian chef Joseph Lidgerwood. Onjium, a restaurant and also a research institute on Korean culture, offers traditional style Korean cuisine.
