À̹ÌÁö È®´ë Eat, live and invest are the three things that concern South Korean the most, a survey showed.
According to a consumption pattern survey conducted by the Korea Consumer Agency on 8,000 Korean adults from July 24 to Aug.30, the largest 21.4 percent picked food and dining as spending priority.
Home-related spending came next (12 percent) and financial and insurance savings (11.4 percent).
The survey had 11 selections that also included clothing, healthcare, education, and leisure.
It is the first time for the finance/insurance category to make the top 3 since the agency began conducting the biennial survey on Koreans¡¯ consumption patterns from 2013. Clothing also for the first time was dropped off from the top 3, slipping to the sixth this time.
Food/dining has topped the list over all four times the agency has taken a poll, but its importance halved compared to 40.8 percent reported in 2013.
The index measuring consumers¡¯ overall satisfaction in their spending linked to daily life came at 69.9 out of total 100 points, indicating a ¡°fair¡± level. It was down compared to 2017¡¯s survey of 76.6 points but improved from 63.8 points in 2015.
The area that consumers thought money well spent was on food, giving 71 points. Their most unhappy result was with finance/insurance, at 67.9 points. Food also scored highest for the most unpleasant experience.
Convenience store was the most popular choice for getting necessities for living, with respondents using such outlets 6.9 times a month on average. It was followed by hypermarket with 4.6 visits per month, open-air market 3.8 times, shopping via mobile phone 3.3 times, small stores in the neighborhood 3.0 times, and online shopping mall 2.8 times.
The latest consumer survey results would be used as a reference for the government on consumer policy planning.
