Kakao, second most-sought workplace in Korea after Samsung Elec

Kakao, chat operator, is second most-sought workplace after all-time favorite Samsung Electronics in South Korea, underscoring the changes of time, survey showed.

The country¡¯s most valuable company Samsung Electronics remained atop in the survey on jobseekers, taking up 14.9 percent out of 1,040 surveyors polled by local job portal provider SaraminHR.

The country¡¯s largest chat platform operator Kakao came second with 12.2 percent, followed by state utility Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) 6.2 percent, Hyundai Motor 5.6 percent and Naver 5.5 percent.

Other names in the top 10 were LG Electronics (4.2 percent), SK Hynix (4 percent), CJ CheilJedang (3.1 percent), Celltrion (2.5 percent), and LG Chem (2.4 percent).

Salary was the top priority in choosing a job by 27.2 percent, employee benefits 17.3 percent, company¡¯s growth potential 10 percent, job stability 8.5 percent, corporate image 8.4 percent and work-life balance 7.1 percent.

The survey results also showed that 42.8 percent of the respondents considered academic background is most critical to get into big corporate names, 36.6 percent language skills, and 33.8 percent work experience.
