Magok in western Seoul is turning into a test bed for futuristic smart and automation technologies with unmanned security to delivery service in test trial.
According to the blueprint on the district nearby Gimpo International Airport from city-owned builder SH Corp. Wednesday, various technologies are planned for trials through regulatory sandbox grants.
It plans to collaborate with community facilities, public parks and corporate tenants to incorporate Internet of Things and automation on everyday necessities ranging from energy and security to public transportation.
Seoul Botanical Park, which recently opened in Magok, will test out smart solutions including a fountain that automatically runs to help lower the dust level inside a botanical garden.
¡°Magok district will be a model smart town. In the longer run, it can export its know-how on smart transitions to emerging markets like Vietnam and Indonesia,¡± said Kim Se-yong, chief executive of SH Corp.
The company sees Magok district as the best place to carry out its plan of creating a smart town because of its corporate tenants. Many of the country¡¯s top corporate names have offices in the district due to its close proximity to Gimpo International Airport as well as Yeoido financial district. Also, there is an industrial park that houses various companies ranging from ranging from IT startups to biotech firms.
