Maekyung Media launches MK-AKMS Young Scholar Award

South Korea¡¯s largest business media Maekyung Media Group, together with the Association of Korean Management Scholars (AKMS), has launched the MK-AKMS Young Scholar Award to contribute to the career development of young Korean scholars in the global academic community.

Founded in 1999, AKMS is a research organization consisted of Korean scholars at home and abroad studying in the field of business and management. It is the largest association of its kind with 400 members.

The recipient of the first MK-AKMS Young Scholar Award is Dr. Joon Mahn Lee at Purdue University/Korea University. He previously held a position at the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University and will be joining Korea University starting this fall. His research interests include business ecosystem and complementary activities, entrepreneurship and technology innovation, and decision-making under uncertainty.

The award winner receives $5,000 and will present the research at the AKMS Annual Meeting. Maekyung Media Group will fund the award and use its media platform to report on the latest management theories and business trends discussed in the annual meeting.

Separately, Maekyung Media Group has been participating as a media partner at the 78th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management (AOM) held August 10-14 in Chicago. The Annual Meeting of the AOM is the world¡¯s largest gathering of management scholars and provides a forum for experts to share their research and insights in all management disciplines. The AOM works in close partnership with the AKMS, which also holds a session in the AOM¡¯s annual meeting.
