À̹ÌÁö È®´ë A state arbitration committee sided with the industry ministry¡¯s judgment and ordered a stay in labor ministry¡¯s plan to disclose information on the worksites of cutting-edge Samsung component facilities.
The Central Administrative Appeals Commission under South Korea¡¯s National Human Rights Commission on Monday said information on semiconductor and display manufacturing process and assembly technologies should be kept confidential as they are core technologies that must be protected for national and corporate interests.
Samsung Group in March and April has filed six appeals with the administrative tribunal against the Employment and Labor Ministry¡¯s decision to disclose its findings on regular inspection of production sites of Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, and Samsung SDI at the request of families of cleanroom workers claiming work-related deaths. It claimed the type of chemicals and wafer fabrication technologies define the competitiveness of the top makers of chips and OLED displays and fear technology theft should the information go public.
The Trade, Industry, and Energy Ministry later recognized chip and display process technologies as core national technologies that require protection.
Samsung¡¯s victory to keep manufacturing information sealed comes as Chinese chip and display makers have been making big strides under state-sponsored ¡°Made in China 2025¡± initiative to make China an innovation powerhouse independent of component imports.
Shares of Samsung Electronics fell 0.85 percent to close Monday at 46,500 won.
