South Korea’s Hanwha Ocean Co. announced on Tuesday that it has recently clinched a 1.24 trillion won ($919 million) deal to construct four liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.

Hanwha Ocean did not disclose the name of the client but industry insiders suggest that the orders are related to the remaining volume from Qatar’s second project phase

Qatar, the world’s largest LNG producer, has been expanding its North Field gas production.

In June 2020, this expansion led Qatar to sign dockyard slot agreements with Korea’s top three shipbuilders?HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Samsung Heavy Industries Co., and Hanwha Ocean?for over 100 LNG carriers.
