LG Uplus Corp. announced Wednesday that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with energy solution provider Yesco to develop pipeline safety management technology.

Under the agreement, the two companies will collaborate on developing Internet of Things (IoT) devices specialized for diagnosing household gas pipelines in downtown areas.

They will also jointly build control solutions and data analysis systems with artificial intelligence (AI) and big data technology.

Furthermore, they plan to prevent interference from external current in pipelines by learning current inflow patterns and accurately assess the extent of corrosion in pipelines to enhance safety and operational efficiency.

Yesco operates about 3,500 kilometers of household gas pipelines in Seoul and the northeastern region of Gyeonggi Province. It has been collaborating with LG Uplus on IoT remote monitoring technology since 2018.

LG Uplus said that it is committed to leading the digital transformation of business-to-business (B2B) industries through collaboration with promising companies in various fields in the future.
