Hyundai Doosan Infracore Co. signed a deal to sell its 1,500-horsepower engines for battle tanks manufactured by Turkey¡¯s BMC Otomotiv Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., according to the Korean company on Thursday.

The 313.1 billion won ($255 million) deal covers complete powerpacks, including Hyundai Doosan Infracore¡¯s engines and transmissions developed by SNT Dynamics Co. This is the first export of Korean powerpacks.

Starting in the latter half of 2025, 110.2 billion won worth of powerpacks will be delivered to Turkey over the course of three years. The second batch, worth 202.9 billion won, will be supplied between 2028 and 2030.

Earlier, Hyundai Doosan Infracore had teamed up with Hyundai-Rotem Co. to provide engines for the K2 main battle tanks for Poland. This was the first export of battle tank engines made in Korea.

¡°We plan to seek more export opportunities to ultimately have defense as one of our key growth engines,¡± the company said.

The powerpacks for Turkey¡¯s battle tanks include a transmission manufactured by SNT Dynamics, which will be worth about 270 billion won. SNT Dynamics is to provide their transmissions to BMC by 2027, with an option for additional supplies between 2028 and 2030.
