STIC Ventures Inc., the venture capital (VC) unit of South Korea’s private equity firm STIC Investments Inc., will make an equity investment of 5 billion won ($3.84 million) in semiconductor equipment company RFPT Co.
According to the VC industry on Monday, STIC Ventures recently held an investment review committee meeting to approve the acquisition of a 9.3 percent stake in RFPT for 5 billion won. RFPT is expected to receive investment from other financial institutions as well, raising a total investment of about 12 billion won.
RFPT manufactures equipment that cleans semiconductor wafers and has a market share of 80 percent in the domestic market, with the company posting 17.7 billion won in sales and 3 billion won in operating profit in 2022. It has seen continuous growth in sales by diversifying its customers despite the recent downturn in the chips industry and is expected to grow both its sales and profits once the industry recovers.
