Kooksoondang, a major Korean traditional liquor producer, announced on Monday its plans to export the ‘LINE FRIENDS Character Makgeolli’ created in collaboration with IPX (formerly LINE FRIENDS) to Japan and Taiwan.

The LINE FRIENDS Character Makgeolli consists of four brands including Rice Makgeolli, Rice Banana, Rice Peach, and Rice Grape, which will be released in both PET bottle and can format for a total of eight products.

Each product features design elements of popular LINE FRIENDS characters. In Japan, these offerings are set to hit shelves starting from mid-December 2023 in major local supermarkets and stores. The makgeolli to be exported to Taiwan is also scheduled to be shipped in December.

“We aim to expand consumer outreach in the Japanese and Taiwanese markets via our LINE FRIENDS Makgeolli. We anticipate that this collaboration will strengthen communication with local young consumers and contribute to expanding the overseas market for makgeolli,” a Kooksoondang spokesperson said.
