Doosan Enerbility Co., South Korea¡¯s largest supplier of nuclear reactors, will supply devices it designed and manufactured for an artificial solar project.

Doosan Enerbility announced Sunday that it shipped pressurizers for supply to The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Organization.

The shipment comes after the company signed a contract with The ITER Organization to supply pressurizers through an international competitive bidding.

ITER is a global collaborative energy project aimed at creating an artificial sun, a safe and clean future energy source, by harnessing the energy of nuclear fusion based on the principle that powers the sun.

Seven countries including Korea, the U.S., Japan, and the European Union (EU) are engaged in the development, construction, and operation of the project to reproduce boundless energy that powers the sun through fusion.

Construction of the experimental reactor in Cadarache, France, will be completed in 2025 for operations until 2042.

Doosan Enerbility pressurizers will be used to maintain constant pressure and to protect from overpressure for the heat exchange system that will be installed in ITER. They are a device that requires the highest level of quality assurance and design verification to comply with European regulatory requirements.
